Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

I watched most of the Tampa/Rangers game. Tampa is going to be hard to beat.
yeah and their dirtiness is almost a catch-22.

they will be dirty. if we match their dirtiness, like last year, we risk the series turning into a special teams battle, which I think is advantage Tampa (would have to double check the stats. they shut down our PP quite effectively last year IIRC and dominated on theirs).

or, if the refs put their whistles away as per usual, then it becomes a street fight, which Tampa is well equipped for, and us, less so.

and to be clear, there is no scenario I foresee where we have a significant PP advantage, deserved or not. the game managers will not allow it.

I will say this. Since Lafferty seems to be pretty much useless as a conventional forward, hopefully he be useful after/before the whistles. And, to be clear, I consider him going up to Brayden Point and sucker punching him in the face at any point to be useful, even if he gets a penalty, as it means the game managers will award us a subsequent penalty. So maybe that's why they acquired him, as a sacrificial lamb to sit in the box and earn us PPs... at least I'll keep telling myself that

I love seeing people who otherwise hate stats get all worked about goal and point totals.
I love seeing people rely on nerdies to tell them something clearly impressive really isn’t impressive at all.

Some spell didn’t allow him to score 36 times. That’s still a great achievement no matter what. And he’s been in the league a long time and hasn’t ever come close to anything like this, so it’s pretty damn noteworthy.

counterpoint: nerdies allow you to better understand, among two different 36 goal scorers, whose relative impact is greater.

hey if you want to believe RNH is suddenly a better player than he was before that's up to you.

you can either believe a dumb and lazy narrative, or consult the nerdies which show that the Nuge is good at hockeying

sure, but it's kinda funny to hear how hard they are to beat after a game they just got pasted, no matter how much they tried to goon it up afterwords.

I hate to say it but I think the Rangers handled them better than our Leafs can.
