He was out with a continuing issues with long Covid from the end of January until a week or so ago.

I’m sure his cap hit was also a problem. He’s essentially an NHL-minimum caliber player at this point. So you’d need multiple rounds of retention to get from a $10.5M cap hit down to that level.
