Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

I think he costs a 1st. Not the worst bet in the world I think. Him, Woll and Samsonov is as good a trio as they've had in years.

Woll is no longer waiver-exempt, so it’s not a trio that would be possible.

If you’re acquiring Hart (or any other goalie), one of Sammy or Woll has to be traded.

Well fuck. The pridham of forumice has spoken. Yeah I don't know then. I wouldn't want to trade Woll and Hart has never been as good as Samsonov last year so not sure it's worth the swap.

it sort of feels like Murray 2.0, except while Hart isn't as shit as Murray at least the whole league knew Murray was poop, Hart might still be well received

Analytics say Hart is slightly above average and Murray is one of the worst goalies in the league.

But honestly Hart is similar to Sammy, in that they are both very talented goalies with elite junior track records and shitty NHL track records. Sammy had the big breakout year (followed by shitty playoffs), so just stick with him.

Ifyou are giving up assets for a goalie, Hellebucyk is available and legit awesome.

I mean, does a dead Ellis and subpar Hart for Murray and taking all that excess financial obligation not also get us something nice in return for our troubles? A 1st or some nice prospect?

If it does, that immediately becomes my favorite deal to make.

I don't know about that.

I think Sammy showed a real mental fortitude playing with us this year, in his first year with all that pressure and getting by TB and the first round in his first attempt with the Leafs. Let's not understate the importance of that. And he was pretty consistent all year. A very calm and well-positioned player in his net, pretty good at all aspects of the position.

He's better than Hart until proven otherwise.

and those 5v5 numbers have me thinking twice about my previous Carter Hart position of him being junk.

Philly has had one of the worst PK's in the league over the last few seasons and it's not just the goaltending.

PK: last 3 seasons combined

6th worst CA/60
6th worst xGA/60
2nd worst high danger chances against

I'm going to bet that better data would show yuge royal road shots, slot shots, rebound shots, etc.

On the flip, over that same time period we're 2nd overall in limited HDCA/60, 4th in xGA/60
