Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Its funny that our habs fans don't realize that they parrot the same things that most of leafs nation, like Sid, say every day.
Wut? I only read here. I don't parrot shit. It's fucking obvious.

But I do enjoy that it irks you just enough to say it. 🙂

it's kinda of a weird hire by Dubas.

Dubas is president and apparently only interim GM. There is no actual GM there at the moment i don't think.

Spezza was only a "special assistant to the GM" here in toronto, not assistant GM.

That seems to be a pretty huge promotion for Spezza, despite only being an exec for one season.

Then again, Dubas does like having a whole crapload of assistant GMs.

more like he gets Dubas' lunch order right..... every single time....#noteasy
He gets the fast food order that Dubas shoves down his kids throat to shut them up correctly?

That's valuable man. Kids are wolves when hungry.

I never really understood how having 5000 AGMs and voices in the room could be a good thing. Kind of gets confusing I would think and maybe that's why it seemed Kyle lack direction by the end. I would much prefer a tight knit group of quality people.

Yeah, it’s weird from the standpoint that, doesn’t the eventual GM want to hire his own assistants? So now he inherits a hire to work under him when he comes, and it’s a guy who’s the right hand man and best buddy of his boss. Dubie is a dickhead.

The main issue I had with Dubas is the plan completely changing. But who knows who's idea that was. I will be interested to see how he does in Pittsburgh. he's in quite a challenging situation (Compete for 2 years then full scorched earth rebuild).

he'll hire someone to insulate him. a GM who can then potentially be canned if things don't go well post-Sid/Geno

Is it really different than Toronto keeping the AGMs?

There’s definitely a distinction between leaving the existing staff in place and letting the new GM decide what to do with them as compared to going out and hiring a new assistant GM before you hire a GM.

But it’s only really an issue if your GM is going to be doing the job of a traditional NHL GM. Clearly that’s not going to be the case in Pittsburgh, and the GM will essentially just be the “first among equals” with his assistants and Dubas will call the shots.
