Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Eh, he's being used as a shutdown defender with Ferraro on one of the worst teams in the league with a 46.3xG and a +5.3 xg relative. For those who like real goals, he has a positive goal differential since the trade as well.

No idea why he was scratched. Coaches do dumb things sometimes. But he's been put into heavy usage on a shit team and has done a pretty okay job in it.
Hes not. He probably should be given that the guy getting the defensive heavies is Ceci.

They were just having fun on HNIC with Roy, asking him if he was better than Hrudy, and he said yes, with some glee.

But it made me curious to look back on their stats.

Not sure what shocked me more. Hrudy with a .893 career SV% or Roy with only a .910.

Ya Roy was a rookie in 85. Back when a goalie was still basically just a defensemen who stood in front of the net.

His pads looked like this:

So ya, first half of his career is dragging that sv% down.

When he got to the Avs Roy turned into the Michelin Man with the hubcap sized glove and oversized pads.

In his 9 years in Montreal, Roy wasn't even the undisputed #1 goalie. He shared the net for his first 4 years pretty much evenly with Brian Hayward. It was only in 88-89 when he started getting the lion's share of the net. Shit, I can remember PLAYOFF games where Hayward got the start even when Roy was healthy.

The 80's had bad save % for goalies. So even when Roy's was good, by today's standards it stil is "Meh". The guy's playoff numbers won't ever be beat. He was money.Broduer himself never came close.
