Could also be that, regardless of his team’s position in the standings, Dubas gets night terrors and the sweats if he doesn’t have at least several shitty NHL depth defensemen on his roster post-deadline.

The #1 qualification for being an NHL trade rumour guy is stating plainly obvious possibilities that anyone could guess based on publicly available information, but repackaged in a way that vaguely makes it seem like new, “inside” information.

And then throw the Leafs into your list of involved teams to generate some extra clicks.

Any GM in a no tax, no snow market like Tampa can look like a genius. If Brisebois had to run a Canadian team no one would think he was anything special.

Just look at how Yzerman seemed smart in Tampa and started looking like a mere mortal once he started running the Red Wings in the snowy, high tax shithole of Detroit.

Being GM in a market that has nice weather and low (or no) taxes makes the job 100 times easier. Brisebois doesn't even need to give a ahit about dealing away 1st rounders because he can always find another elite UFA who would love to play in Tampa.

Let him try to get away with that shit in Montreal and see how smart he looks then.
