Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

Definitely thinking there's a lot more positive tests coming if there's 6 positives already. That's too bad.

Correction: Looks like it's 8 players total, 1 staff member.

They have started calling up players from the AHL to serve the 7 day quarentine.... i guess they are assuming that the team will be cleared before many of the players will be back.

I think the Canucks are toast playoff wise anyway. This will just give their fans an excuse to say or was because of covid that they missed.

I do wish speedy recoveries to everyone however, so tired of this covid shit.

I feel more and more like any person in Canada who:

A) Is working a job that the government is currently allowing to be open
B) Spends some or all of their time working indoors
C) Works with a large group of people and is unable to physically distance from those people when doing their job

...should be pushed up to the front of the vaccine line. So whether it's restaurant workers, workers in an Amazon warehouse, teachers or NHL players and staff, the only people who should be ahead of them in the vaccine line right now is healthcare workers/care givers.

That Amazon warehouse situation in Peel is absolutely outrageous.

Yeah there's two thoughts on it. The 70+ year olds are likely not spreading shit but doing them first probably saves more lives, without really doing much in terms of helping with the spread. But doing essential workers first can help curb spread, which in turn can save lives too. And now with the new variants killing more young people your post makes even more sense than ever.

Doing the elderly first is kinda how it has been done across the world but I've been wondering if it's best to do a 65 year old retired stay-at-home person ahead of a kid who works in an Amazon warehouse. Not sure. Both have there pros and cons. But now that Canada has mostly gotten the elderly done it's probably time to go all-in on the essential workers imo.

Totally makes sense. My parents are 81 and 85. Retired. Can they keep their asses at home? Nope. Cannot and will not. It’s so frustrating. So they don’t get to see us. They’ve received their first Pfizer jabs but go out on the daily for groceries and take out etc. “well Dear we need to keep busy” ugh.

Yup. That's my parents too; I gave up on them. It's their choice at the end of the day. Still don't think people like that contribute to much actual spreading of the virus but they are clearly taking risks by going out. So doing them first will probably save the most lives, while not having much of an impact on total cases.

Indeed. It just makes me mad/sad that I get guilted about not letting them see my kid since they may not have many years left, yet they won’t do their part. I feel awful but still nope.
