Around the League 2019-2024 Edition

That deal is really a great deal for Dallas.

Kinda wish Tor jumped on it, but I'm not sad keeping Knies.

Now go get us ratface.

How about Vlad Tarasenko going from the Sens to the Panthers last season?

The fact that an over-the-hill, 32-year-old Vlad Tarasenko is the closest thing to a “big-name, splashy acquisition” going to a subsequent Cup winner that you could come up with does an excellent job of disproving your argument.

He was the best available on deadline day. Florida, who doesn't give a shit about picks or prospects, went after the best available player, got him, and won.

When have the Leafs ever got (or even troed to get) the best available deadline day player or the best UFA on July 1st? They don't make big swinging dick moves.

That’s a killer return for the Canes.

In the end it turned into:

Necas + Drury + 2nd + 3rd + 4th for Stankoven + 2 1sts + Taylor Hall

Necas is having a good year and might be a great fit in Colorado long term, who knows, but that's a guy they shopped last summer and couldn't find a deal they liked. I'm going to bet that if Dallas was offering Stankoven and 2 1sts, it would have been done.

That’s not what I asked though, or what you originally argued, is it Mr. Shifty McGoalposts?

whatever they did, you would have found some angle to shit on it. who the fuck are you trying to kid?

Stankoven is good, though really small. Its easy to like the asset management...if you aren't a Hurricane. The team must be pissed.
