It did probably cost them a series, but that kind of bodes another question....is your team deep/good enough if losing your 2C costs you a series?
Shit happens in a series. Injuries, suspensions, good/bad performance, etc. It takes a village and all of that.

The number of games Kadri was suspended relative to what he did and the other suspensions at the time were a joke.
Both suspensions were also defending teammates.

Ekblad missed playoff games twice...this year....due to suspension.
How much ya wanna bet the Panthers are going to be patient with him? We only look poorly on Kadri's suspensions because we fucking lost without him. Win a round and have him come back and make an impact in the next series and all would have been forgiven. Easy scapegoat for if you lose though.

Lose twice in a row with unforced error suspensions and it's only reasonable to point to those.
If we had beaten Florida, does Ekblad take some heat for missing the first game? Probably not. But Kadri would always get himself suspended for the remainder of series (because we'd lose), so it would've been different if he just missed a game or two on the front end.

Having Kadri would never make up for our best players not showing up in big games. There's nothing a team can do to make that situation a winner. the Leafs have spent close to a decade trying.
