Around the League 2019-2025 Edition

Zetterlund is a solid player. He scored 20 goals the last 2 years and played 2nd line minutes. Don had him at $5 mill value last year.
 
Not only do the Leafs have to move Krok/Kampf, but they should also move one (maybe both) of Carlo/OEL.

Florida had two full 4th lines/3rd pairs all making $1 mill each.

The Leafs are paying those guys $11.5 mill. Though in fairness OEL played big minutes.

It pisses me off that an account I follow on Twitter of an old lady that always says how cap hit doesn't equal quality in bottom 6 and overpaying plugs is terrible and so many disagree.

Leafs are also paying tanev and McCabe 10m to give comparable value to what Fla got from Ekblad and jones for 15m.

The albatross on the blue line is rielly at 7.5.
 
Well OEL produced the same value as Rielly for half the cost. But paying a blueliner $3.5 mill to play 15-16 mins a game in the playoffs when guys like Schmidt/Kulikov are out there to provide similar value for $1 is a waste that could be used to actually buy depth scoring instead of relying on 4 guys to do it all.

We've seen for 7 years its not easy to find guys that can score for the min. But its easy to find guys who can defend for that. But we are paying a lot of guys a lot of money to defend in depth roles.

We've made our Dcore slower and puck movement abilities have gone in the toilet. We never are concerned with adding skill/scoring in bottom 6. Those are the real issues. This organization is not very concerned over goal scoring. Scott Laughton is EXACTLY the type of player they've gone for past 6 years.
Leafs listened to the noise that started around 2018 and went with it.

Florida also replaced OEL with Schmidt, for cheaper. and I'm not sure there was any downgrade. Schmidt looked great all playoffs.
