Around The League - 2024-25 Regular Season

Lafreniere on the fourth line... Maybe

What's going on with his development in NY? Not looking great.

What's happening to Lafrenière is mind-boggling to me.

I can explain year 1 and maybe even year 2, but he's in year 3 and there's still nothing going on. I don't watch the games for New York, but something must be wrong there.

If we get a third first round pick this year, I would seriously consider giving it (and then some) to New York for Lafrenière.

I wouldn't. I've never been wowed by him. It was just a bad draft year.

WTF is the matter with you
I hate him.
I do not want him any success ever.
Raised in the Cold War I’ve always been suspicious of Russia.
When Putin came to power I was incredibly alarmed. He’s not as bad as hitler yet. Give him time.
And Ovi is not just a Putin apologist, he’s a fucking cheerleader. I’ve seen enough about Russian thought on the war. Yes, they are brainwashed. And Ovi is part of Putin’s narrative of triumph.
Rooting against Ovi and wanting him eliminated is akin to cheering Jesse Owens at Munich in 36.
Fuck Russia
Fuck Putin
And fuck Ovi
I hope the bitch has weak windows and gets the full oligarch treatment.

It's ludicrous to think but he might be available at draft. They won't do it for a third but might for a late first Hughes acquires.

Lafreniere’s game without the puck is atrocious, but that can be taught over time assuming he’s got willingness to learn.

The rest of his hockey skills / traits including size & willingness to use to win puck battles would complement Suzuki / Caufield nicely

He'd look good on the Suzuki line
Also starts piecing the teams potential top-9 going fwd:

Lafreniere - Suzuki - CC
Slaf - Dach - Anderson
xx - Beck - Mesar

1st pairing RDman is still a key missing element.

Nah. Lafrenière was a superb, all-time Junior player. You don't have players like him that come around and are the best players in the CHL at 17/18 years old before they're draft eligible. Lafrenière and Crosby are the only two players to win the CHL player of the year award twice before they were drafted.

His list of accomplishments, along with his size & skills, are almost guaranteed to translate. Why they haven't, though, is beyond me.

Worth going back & checking this thread out.

1st pairing d-man and an elite #1 center. I don't know if Dach's a center long-term.

Yup. Everything depends on context.

Had we drafted Nichola Beaudin in the late first & he never made it to the NHL, there'd be the usual belly aching. But since we got him for quite literally nothing in return...
