He tends to be motivated his first year with a team and now he's going home. I think he'll have a good year but he's not gritty. He's a pest after the whistle.

My comment was more about Leafs Twitter seems to think he is his dad. Toughness, grit etc. He’s a fine player, but is not anything like his dad

Maybe there was a Rangers deal on the table earlier that he was willing to accept but agent insisted to go test free agency and then the deal was no more.
