True but the Leafs cant risk it and waste another year with this coreI think Askarov is a key piece of that trade personally. I know he's young but potential too big to ignore, plus he's still on entry level contract.
Did you listen to the chief talk during his presser? It was all about “team”True but the Leafs cant risk it and waste another year with this core
Sure they can. Matthews is signed for 4 more years, Reilly and Nylander are signed long term, I think they can try to realign their code to try to win in 3 years.True but the Leafs cant risk it and waste another year with this core

So why the worry about wasting a year then? They are certainly not winning anything next year. I think in 3 years they could have a chance if they reshape the roster judiciously. Get quality goaltending, upgrade the blue line, upgrade secondary scoring. No small tasks, but they have solid pieces and a flexible cap situation.Leafs arent winning squat in 3 years
Nope, I don't. Maybe Molendyk, but Toronto wouldn't take him. They don't need a 19 year old d-man who might (keyword being, "might") be an NHL regular in two years. You think Nashville doesn’t trade Askarov and Molendyk for a signed Marner?? I think they do that in a split second.

Different answer, you’re saying that Toronto won’t go for it, which I would agree, but Nashville definitely makes that deal. I do think Toronto will want a few more established players but I don’t really see what Nashville has to offer that would make sense for Toronto.Nope, I don't. I think you're going to be mightily disappointment if that's what you believe the trade might end up being.

Sounds like a medical retirement coming right up.
Tulsky has been the defacto GM since Dundon bought the team - Gord Miller has been saying for a while Tulsky‘s had final approval on all player moves (draft selections, trades, UFA signings, contracts etc.) as mandated by Dundon.Normal procedure for the Canes when front office staff reaches the end of their contracts. Waddell and Tulsky have interviewed with other organizations in the past before staying with the Canes. This is nothing new which Lebrun and Friedman surly know.
