I get your point, even if I don't know if I feel quite that strongly. As I've said before, I know one guy who did. My father. He stated the very same thing you did, all his life.

You are kindred spirits. I'll reinforce it with a repeat of this story for those who might have missed it . A few years before he died, Dad was at a gas station, wearing his Habs cap. The young fellow filling his tank noticed it, and said he, too, was once a Montreal fan but now cheered for Toronto. My father looked at him, and said "My son, you were never a Montreal fan".
No explanation necessary to anyone here.
For me, if it helps the Canadiens, then I support it.
