I get that but they’ve weakened themselves significantly for this year’s playoffs, which is dumb. Stankhoven is not Necas (yet). This might be a huge fail by Nerdboy GM.

I agree - their issue in the playoffs has been lack of size up front able to score those greasy goals, which Rantanen was supposed to address….

All the Nerdboy GMs in the NHL (strong analytically driven teams) seemingly have hit roadblocks, unable to achieve playoff success.

Many teams hit roadblocks but most keep doubling down with no success

Not really. They play a forechecking/trap game, which skilled players hate. But they lack grit. They need a Tkachuk or two.

At first I was thinking of the old Scottish rock band Big Country, not Bryant Reeves, the basketball player.
