The main goal is to prevent a Leafs Cup run. So you either beat them, or beat them up. Ottawa can beat them and, if they somehow don't, can really beat them up so that they're useless afterwards.

No, I grew up in Southern Ontario in the 70's surrounded by delusional Leafs fans who kept trying to convince me that Sittler was better than Lafleur, that Ian Turnbull was better than Robinson, and that Mike Palmateer was better than Dry den. And then, in 78 and 79, after the Habs annihilated the Leafs 4-0 in 2 consecutive playoff series, these idiots still wouldn't acknowledge the superiority of the Habs. They kept assuring me that the Leafs were still better, despite all evidence to the contrary.

This is how and why I developed a hatred for the willfully ignorant, whether they be Leafs fans or anti-vaxxers, or Trumpers.

Wasn’t the fact it was the Habs that won 4 Cups in a row enough to sooth your inner anxiety, regardless of what Make Belief fan said?

That's the thing. Winning 4 Cups and fitting the Leafs for clown suits in 2 of those seasons made no impact on them. Like hardcore MAGA's facts did not matter to them. People that delusional are potentially dangerous, as we are finding out now.

So ever since then I have taken it as my job to educate the willfully stupid whether they want to learn or not. Some can be persuaded by facts while others simply need to be repeatedly told that they're stupid and ridiculed for their ignorance.

But in addition to that I have also had to take it upon myself to educate non-Leafs fans who think that the Leafs and their supporters are somehow benign and the same as every other team and fanbase. They are not. Right now, the only thing that makes them even remotely bearable is the fact that they always lose. If that ever changed, only God knows what the world would be like then but it would not be pretty.

It must never be permitted to occur.

Hockey was never a feature of any breakup I ever had and most of my relationships ended when I decided to end them, not the other way around. And I steered clear of girls through high school because my worst nightmare was accidentally getting some chick knocked up and having to spend the rest of my life in Oshawa (in fact, I still have occasional dreams in which I find myself living there and it's chilling. I couldn't wait to get the fuck away and I didn't want any encumbrances preventing my escape)

Also, not every jilted guy goes through life bitter unless they're some dateless incel living in their mom's basement spending all day watching Andrew Tate vids and dungeon porn while planning to vote PPC. Most of us just get on with our lives and find other women to bang.
