Best of the internet

You want to fix the world, want to repair & cultivate more empathetic society? Put the necessary funds into making sure every kid in North America can get their hands on whatever book they want to read, for free.

Let them read whatever they want when they’re young for entertainment, to build that habit, and passion & cultivate the habit…they’ll get to the important literature at their own speed & when the equally as important non-fiction & academic reading comes along, they’ll breeze through it, compared to those who didn’t have these habits. It’ll increase the quality of humans your country is putting out, and its overall intelligence, innovation, creativity, critical thinking….everything.

Let them read whatever they want when they’re young for entertainment to build that passion….and they’ll get to the important literature to expand their humanity, & the equally as important non-fiction & academic reading becomes much more effortless by the time they reach that stage in their development. Increases the quality of humans your country is putting out, and its overall intelligence, innovation, creativity, critical thinking & the value of delayed gratification.

100%.

I always had good grades in school from day one, so my parents were totally laissez faire about everything with me. So anything I read, it was because I wanted to. And the love for reading started young with comic books, which really were the best thing to start with on so many levels. Wholesome, moralistic, clever, inspiring. I think the first book series I got into was The Hardy Boys, I must’ve read 100 of them or more at around 8 or 9 years old. Once you’re into reading, your curiosity grows and leads you to bigger and better things. Leave the kids to what they like initially.
