I think one of us is getting screwed this way. I didn't think it through yesterday.

One person pays $40 if they lose and the other pays $0. That's what double or nothing is.

If you'd prefer to just scrap it though that's fine. Not like it's big money or anything.

Also, what happens if the two teams don't meet?
 
Reading along it seemed to me that you guys still had your original $20 bet. Then no matter who wins you guys will go double or nothing if they meet in the playoffs.
 
That's the way I read it as well...the original 20 dollar bet still stands, we've just decided to go double or nothing on a Leafs-Habs playoff matchup. If the matchup doesn't happen, then whoever loses the original bet, pays up the 20 he owes.

You now owe me $20 and if the Habs meet the Leafs it's double or nothing.
