Local elections should have better turnout. Most of the time it's 15% or less.

Rex has a separate building for maternity that's connected to the main building so that can be kept isolated. Don't know about other places.

TBJ is reporting this morning that Triangle hospitals are considering resuming elective surgeries. The N&O has an ongoing statewide data page that for the last couple of weeks has included hospital data showing a pretty steady availability of around 7000 beds, 600 ICU beds, and around 22% use of ventilators. If the objective was to avoid overloading the healthcare system, that's worked so far, and given that the hospitals really need the revenue from elective surgeries, then go for it. It's not like people will be leaping at the opportunity anyway, and it's a policy that can be EASILY reversed at a moment's notice. The big challenge is to keep the COVID wards and staff completely segregated from other operations, which they should be doing now anyway.

Got that right.. I've been putting off a medical procedure for a couple months... Not emergency but important, ya know? I mean it's performed at an outpatient clinic facility, not a hospital, but I just can't see signing up for that right now when I have to think twice or 3x before going ANYWHERE..

Right now the only US wars with more deaths than CV are Civil War, WW 1 , WW 2, Korea, Vietnam. But it looks like the number will probably pass both Korea and Vietnam. So there would only be 3 wars with more deaths than CV. Sad statistic.

Eric Johnson show I have tickets to cancelled after being moved from March to Aug.

Rex's heart unit is also a completely separate building from the main wards. Wake Med is basically four buildings that can be isolated off from one another with some foresight and planning

Oh please oh please, reopen the schools tomorrow and just leave the kids there!!!!!! Pretty please?!

Plans for the rest of the school year will be announced tomorrow. I'm just gonna drop the kid off at school in the morning in the hopes that the schools will be opened starting then. Just want to beat the rush, ya know?

Cooper went with a modified rolling release of stay at home orders. On the face of it, all of that stuff seems to make sense but I'm certain that it won't make the demonstrators happy ... not that the loud complaints of 10% of the population (according to polling) should outweigh common sense or anything, because they shouldn't.

NC school plan released at 2 today. The only thing I can see them allowing is HS graduation. They might do that only with the students and livestream it. They could keep the kids 6 feet apart. Walk in, get diploma, walk out. Better than nothing I guess. No speeches, music etc.

yeah my niece is graduating

Heads up on stay at home orders ... the counties are starting to weigh in now that the Governor has had his say. Durham has gone first, at Durham County is extending their stay at home order until May 15, although they're modifying the restrictions. Orange County has announced the same. Look for something from Wake soon.
