A college roommate said his HS graduation lasted 30 minutes total. Kids liked it but parents got mad.
I'd have LOVED a 30 minute graduation ceremony. Instead, I'm pretty sure our speaker took that long. At least he was an interesting old fart ... former Vietnam POW and Senator Jeremiah Denton. We had William F Buckley Jr the year before. Can you tell I went to a conservative private school, or what?

Jesse Helms not available?

Was it Ravenscroft? the star of Dexter Michael C. Hall went there. I am in the dentist's office and they have a Ravenscroft alum magazine. I thought "I wonder if they have an article on Hall in here?" and sure enough they did. Maybe ESP?

The Eredivisie has cancelled the rest of the season and will not name a champion. That’s the top Dutch soccer league for you non-soccer fans.

They will not name a champion, nor will there be any promotion from or relegation to the 2nd division.

The Dutch government extended the ban on major public events for another 3 months on Tuesday.

Oh yeah ... my "beloved" alma mater. Good old Ravenscroft ... filled with all sort of teenaged super villains in training. A couple of Yorks, a few Holdens, other behind the scene power broker types along with a million children of doctors and low level lawyers. Good times ... ugh. Michael Hall was in my sister in law's class. He was in middle school when I graduated and by all accounts was a quality kid. I never knew him that I recall.

And the manager of the club that was running away with the 2nd division title is ... salty about this. As you would expect.

Hall had a job in high school selling knives. :) If you have not seen Dexter he plays a serial killer who mostly uses knives to kill people.

He was also in the HBO show Six Feet Under

I went there a lifetime + ago before my dad lost his job and we went to the DC area. I will not say that all my experiences there were good.

When I was a kid in Raleigh in the 70s private schools were pretty much Ravenscroft, St. Marys HS for girls and Catholic schools . I may have forgotten a few. St Mary's also had a junior college but they dropped that.

Knew a guy named Steve Lewis who disappeared to there for several years but ended up back at Millbrook to graduate with us.

Louis Capps. He was there in 74 and maybe before that. He was AD at Millbrook and taught math. Also assistant FB coach.

My daughter started at Ravenscroft for kindergarten and we pulled her out in tenth grade. My son went from kindergarten through fifth and then asked to leave. Our experiences there in Lower School were outstanding; Middle School wasn’t too great and Upper School was a disaster.

I say this while having plenty of friends whose kids graduated from there, had great experiences and have gone on to do very well in college and their early careers.

Every kid is different; the school that works for one may be the worst option for another and vice versa.

Guess they would play division teams 2x and then 6 other games with nearby teams to cut down on travel. No need to make teams to travel cross country. For example Panthers could play Redskins, Ravens, Jets, Giants, Philly, Pitt.

This is true for all schools and all families. There's no perfect solution and I always applaud parents who stay flexible and work with their kids' specific situations. I was on the board at St Timothy's for a long time and my wife taught there, and as hard as we tried, we could never have expected to have been the right situation for everyone. It always amused when people thought we should be.

A comment Andy made in another thread reminded me ... have any of you guys had a spike in adults wizzing around your neighborhoods on electric scooters? We've got a group of 8-10 middle aged dudes in my area who have clearly all bought scooters and they cruise around laughing like morons. Appropriately distanced morons, I might add. Honestly ... looks like fun.
