Ashley Christensen is not going to re-open Chuck’s. Beasley’s will expand into the space and add some of their menu items.

Chalk that one up to "stuff that was probably going to happen at some point down the road being accelerated thanks to short term economic stress." Chuck's had grown a bit stale and almost never had a line anymore while Beasley's was generally packed to the rafters.

Like the demise of Northgate. Inevitable but the timetable was accelerated.

Yeah ... we're still on the bleeding edge of that stuff. Right now we're seeing shifts from either outfits who were barely hanging on in the first place or those with forward thinking leadership. Soon even the stubborn ones that keep putting off the inevitable won't have any choice other than to make changes or go away.

Honestly, I see that part of this mess as a net good result. Businesses that are dancing with the fiscal devil are rarely good places to work.

For the first time ever NYC subway system shutdown at night for cleaning. Better late than never I guess. Normally they run 24 hours a day. I don't know of any other subway that runs 24/7. DC metro shuts down late at night.

Chicago's blue and red lines of the L run 24/7. Apparently there are five subway systems that run 24/7

We went to Chuck's a couple of summers ago. Got seated, spent ten minutes while waiter after waiter walked right by our table, watched a gaggle of them chatting in the kitchen ignoring everything, while a cook spent a bunch of time messing with his hair. We walked out after giving the clueless twentysomething at the entrance a dressing down.

Good riddance.

That reminds me one time I was in a Daryll's pizza place long ago , I think the one by NCSU. It was pretty empty so we hung around so long after we ate that a new waitress came and asked what we wanted to eat. :)

The Bundesliga officially returns next Saturday with 6 matches. Another 2 will be played on Sunday, 1 on Monday. Each team in the league had 9 matches left, they’ll be played in the original order that remained when the league paused on March 13.

On Monday, federation officials announced that 10 of 1,724 players, staff, etc. tested positive. They’ll be required to self-quarantine. All players, coaches, team and league officials will be tested again this week and throughout the rest of the season.

Fox holds the US TV rights to the Bundesliga until the end of this season. They’d be smart to flood the airwaves with matches across all their properties. While most of the matches are at 9:30 am Eastern, they have noon matches on Saturday and Sunday and a 2:30 match on Monday.

College FB goes on no matter what!! No on campus students, no problem. Some teams sit out, no problem. Who cares about some virus we can't even see

I'm pretty close to telling college football to go pack sand anyway. Depending on how this goes, this might tip the scales for me. I'm not saying that laying games won't make sense in some regard, but you can feel the callous disregard for the guys who actually play just dripping off these creeps. With any luck their University Presidents and Chancellors will at least pretend to push through the dollar signs long enough to think through the exposure issues

France sending kids back to school starting Monday. I don't know if they get a long summer off. France pretty much shuts down in August so kids are not in school then.

I'm pretty certain we'll hear "college FB pays for all the other sports except mens BB" and so on.

Oregon governor says large crowds in Sept. is not a good idea. Oregon and Oregon St. both have 3 home games in Sept. I guess they could play on the road.

Seems pretty likely there will be 300,000 dead by September. I'm not sure why anyone would want to sit in a packed stadium in any city really.

We will ... and it will still be a lie. College football pays for itself and not a single other thing. Period. EVERY single serious accounting reveals that, yet they still trot it out to excuse the excesses every single time. College football is a scam. It brings in the big bucks, sure ... but it spends every penny it generates. Largely on frivolities and nonsense.

I'm amazed people wear suits and ties and fancy dresses for college FB. I can see chancellor and big wigs doing that but regular fans? On the other hand I've been to a few funerals lately and some older guys did not wear a tie or jacket. Doesn't matter to me , just did not expect that. I also think it's kind of funny NHL and other pro players wear suits/ties to games but I guess old habits die hard. NFL bans coaches from suits on the sidelines , they must wear team logo shirts, jackets, etc. Of course baseball coaches/managers wear uniforms.

Can remember in the 80s when northgate was THE mall to go to in DURHAM. Really on par with Southsquare. But that place turned into cesspool over the years and my family avoided it. Sad but I’m shocked the place was still open.
