Dum Dum fired

Bullshit. Us making the playoffs was some luck because of a weak division but you work with the card that you've been dealt. Our playoff run was not luck. We played great, everyone was contributing, and it wasn't Price stealing games like Halal, even though he played great. We deserved those wins.
The team we're seeing this season is the real Habs, the team they've been for 5 years. The only missing piece is Price, who spackled over the cracks. With him gone we finally get to see just how big a fraud this team has always been under Bergevin.

To carry on with Geeman's football analogy, last season's playoff run was like the 5-11 Ottawa Rough Riders nearly upsetting the 14-1-1 Edmonton Eskimos in the 1981 Grey Cup. They made it to the final, but they had no earthly business being there, and only even made the playoffs because 2 other teams in the Eastern Division were worse (the Alouettes went 3-13 while the Argos went 2-14) They beat the Als, a team even worse than they were, in the semis and one half decent team, the 11 win Hamilton Tiger Cats, before coming up against Tampa Bay...errr.... I mean Edmonton in the final. They made it a lot closer than the Habs did, even had a big lead at halftime, but reality finally set in.

Reality is setting in for the Habs this season.

Regime needs to build a contending roster with longevity and sustainability , not pray for a once a decade fluke run

That only starts with a rebuild to start a new framework

It can be done in 3-5 years if done properly

Plenty examples of competitive teams playing well for a decade with good draft/development and timely trades

Habs have always had challenges and just got harder with the Covid Canadian rules with empty buildings and border crap

Family disruptions , quarantine crap , etc.... makes Canada a less desirable home

Need to nail drafting right from the get go , regime has minimal margin of error

I’m still confused. We are trying to tank and our team sucks. Why are we firing the coach?
They're also trying to trade players and grow the guys that they want to keep. Getting shelled 7-1 on a nightly basis isn't conductive to building up player values or developing your own players.

Don't worry about the pick,we still don't have an NHL goalie on the team.

I understand, but is it only the head coach responsible for development? It's not like has much to work with. I think we are seeing that CC might not be that 1st liner we wanted, Suzuki is good but not a star. And Romanov is likely a 4/5 dman. Other than that, the team lacks major talent, which is not DD's fault. So, we bring in MSL with how many years of NHL coaching experience? Like, seems like DD is just a fall guy for what MB left the club.

DD was doomed to fail

However it was a shit show every night , players quit in the coach

ThxDD leaves the league with a record of 23-46-14

We know
I said that Scotty Bowman on his best day couldn't coax a better result from this bunch so I'm not too worried. A couple of months from now we will all be able to see that the problems with this team go way deeper than the clown behind the bench.

As Hughes said yesterday “this is the first change of several”..

Obviously. Molson hired a very expensive new managment team to do things and their record will likely be historically bad for this franchise, so yeah, changes.

Their base line measuring stick is a decade of Nero , not hard to exceed a C - GRADE

Boy, with the way this team has played since his firing, Ducharme would need to be blessed by God to ever get another interview in the NHL for any kind of position, let alone ever get another job.

Anytime somebody makes me a sandwich, it's better than the sandwich I could make for myself. A sucky sandwich made by dum dum would be enough. That would be one less sandwich that I would have to make for myself. Anytime someone else makes me a sandwich, big win.

With that in mind, I call on dumb dumb to make me a sandwich.

I think he'll have to go back to juniors, but yeah he's toast in the pros. He had a magic stretch of 13 games (in which he coached 9) but otherwise he's challenging for worst coach in Habs history.
