Filip Mesar, Montreal Canadien

Guessing they'll send both to Laval so they can be BFF there. Pretty smart, quite a player agent move.
Well they know each other well on the ice too. Might not be a bad move. Let's see what the dynamic duo can do

Only CHL players can't jump in the AHL at 18.

He was already playing against men, sending him to junior doesn't feel like a natural progression.

Here's the thing with Mesar in the AHL.

If he plays on a PTO, he can't get recalled to the NHL. And honestly, at 18 or even 19 years old, I don't think he'll be ready for the NHL.

What the PTO allows is to slide the beginning of the ELC to the following season, for two more seasons. After that, he'll be burning the first year of his ELC. If you put him in Laval during his ELC, then you're burning the years on his contract.

My opinion for Mesar? Get him to play in the OHL next season, re-evaluate next summer.

The jump from the Slovkian league to the OHL is huge.

The disrespect... Slovak men's league > OHL. He wasn't in the u20.

Nope, not really. The Sloavkian leagues are terrible for young players. Level of competition isn't high, he won't get a ton of ice time, not North American ice surfaces.

He should, at the very least, try to upgrade to maybe the Finnish or Swedish leagues. I don't want him staying in the Slovakian league, though.
