For Borje - The Toronto Maple Leafs 2023 Stanley Cup Champions Thread

Im actually surprised the league doesnt have a rule against this. Not sure thats a good look for the league.
Free market enterprise. They still can't fill without it. Maybe the ECF they will but the arena is always half full of opposing fans and the Leafs will be represented for sure.

Panthers can score but the defensive difference between the teams is significant and that's what I would expect to carry the day for the Leafs in this series.

…so under a new NHL rule, for the playoffs instead of having amateur goalies as EBUGs, teams instead are allowed to have any goalie in the organization under an NHL contract fill that role.

Kallgren had been serving as our EBUG for the first round, and the fact they’ve just sent him down makes me think that Matt Murray is now healthy and back on the active roster.

Though whether he supplants Woll as the #2 or just replaces Kallgren as the #3 remains to be seen.

It's actually good to have Murray back.

Sammy's game 7 performance has likely settled any question in Keefe's mind as to who his #1 is. But it's nice to have Murray around if sammy stumbles too hard.

I hope Dom gives us updated Net Rating numbers for the 2nd round (especially some kind of grade for Knies) but I don't know that he will.

Since I think structurally the Leafs and Panthers are very similar, here's how the cumulative Net Ratings look like for each segment of the team:

Top-6: TOR 71 --- FLA 62
Bot-6: TOR -25 --- FLA -37

Top-3: TOR 18 --- FLA 22
Bot-3: TOR 4 --- FLA -4

Goalie: TOR 7 --- FLA 8

and the one place that the panthers have an advantge (Top-3 defense), is maybe the area that looked much better for Toronto in round 1 than coming in, thanks to Mo remembering how to play hockey.
