#ForBorje - GDT #1: TOR v TBL 23/4/18 7:30 - HERE. WE. GO.

Tavares scored quite well last year - he stepped up offensively so no real issues there. But in the last 8 playoff games vs Tampa he has gotten caved the absolute fuck in at under 40% xgf%. And this is while the Leafs as a whole have outperformed Tampa in the nerdies. Not blaming him only but man, there couldn't have been a worse fit for a team that already lacks killer instinct.

Flat start was a killer but they were on the verge of tying it and got that snatched away from poor officiating once again

The wheels completely fell off from there

I’m glad I missed this one. The highlights were atrocious. Seeing Corey Perry again make mince meat out of us from the very get go. He’s allowed to Gretz his way behind the net and around and take a shot while they all just watch or let him. Two goals with just a couple seconds left? It’s terrible to see the display in the highlights, but less impactful. It just feels like any other bad game when you’re not watching that shit for 2.5 hours. Thank the lord I have Frenemy on block, but bless his soul, the multiple orgasms he must’ve had watching that.

Maybe crazy but….I really don’t think the Bunting hit was very bad. I see all of you accepting it was brutal but it was just a whatever hit imo. The 5 minutes was enough. The match more than enough. But yes, of course he won’t walk away without a suspension now.

I didn’t love this roster or how we were playing it from the deadline. I’ve been down on them, so this doesn’t change much. I’m still waiting for them to Leafs the fuck out of this series and take it when everyone thinks they’re cooked. Because they really are cooked if they don’t.

Why can’t we play playoff hockey like seasoned vet teams like the Seattle Kraken?

And btw let last night be a lesson to the zen brigade who wonder why some here seemingly overreact and panic.
funny enough I feel like I'm jumping fences here.

obviously game 1 was a massive shitburger, but at the end of the day, if they win game 2, we're back to square one.

so yeah, I'm still overall skeptical for all the reasons discussed ad nauseam since the trade deadline, but one shitty game doesn't really change much for me. maybe cause it didn't totally surprise me, after the second Tampa goal it mostly felt like, 'well, here we go again'.

anyways, the lesson I've learned this season is that everyone should just listen to @hockeylover.

Hey, defer to my last post. 1 game means nothing, I don't disagree. But the zen brigade has gone overboard assuring us that they'll add another forward, Liljegren will play and there's absolutely nothing to be skeptical of with this roster and all criticism is invalid. I simply decided to take a relatively innocent jab. That's all.

the first goal was such an epic shitshow all around.

first, ZAR with the bad giveaway.

then, neither Holl nor Kampf actually cover Perry. but they also didn't fucking cover anyone else and just let him waltz around the net and left Bellemare fucking wide open in front of the net. at least Gio was trying to tie up Maroon I think it was.

the Bunting hit, I'm willing to accept was not an intentional headshot, but was definitely interference and primary point of contact was straight to the head. but cause it's Bunting, I don't think he gets the benefit of the doubt re:intent.

and yeah, this is par for the course for the anti-Schitt brigade.

ha, I think you're mischaracterizing the positions taken by the zen brigade.

but given this team's history, tough not to either feel concerned (or just resigned to them Leafing the fuck out of everything and breaking our hearts)

Why can’t they just take care of business? Always has to be maximum frustration. It doesn’t bode well, even if they somehow squeak through this round.

Oh they took enough shots at people who were reacting strongly to a botched close to the deadline, I took a light jab back. That is all.

y'all need to hug it out. everyone is feeling pretty shite today after watching last night's shit show, I imagine.

I had to mute myself midway through the first when my poor dog was getting quite concerned by the things I had to say to the TV...

I mean, it’s the truth. What is there to tiptoe around? They made some terrible moves at the end and it was obvious to a few of us that it didn’t bode well. And they’ve followed through on doing exactly what we thought they would. This is the third year of Keefe not trusting Lilly enough, but the first where he has zero excuse - when exactly is this kid going to be ready? When he’s watching games from the stands like Sandin and his 15 points in 19 games since leaving?

The worst part about the deadline shenanigans is that we had ONE real need more than any other - a top six LW. He made like ten different trades, and we’re watching guys like Tarasenko and Bertuzzi move for peanuts, and expecting he’s got something even bigger up his sleeve. And he’s got nothing up his sleeve, just a shitty watch that is right more times a day than he is now for some reason.
