#ForBorje - GDT #1: TOR v TBL 23/4/18 7:30 - HERE. WE. GO.

After years of playoffs experience against dynasties like TB and awful teams like CBJ and Habs, shaping and reshaping and again reshaping the team, being top tier team in the regular season again and again earning home ice etc...

They come out, turn over after turnover in their own end and down 3-0 after a period. This was a pathetic effort by the Leafs. The refs may have stolen our chance to steal a game we clearly deserved to lose, but I find the first period absolutely unacceptable.

This version of the Leafs were never able to start on time. From Babcock era to Keefe.

I've worked with brilliant people like this. They are clearly better at their job than others on the team but they get left behind when it comes to promotions. Why? Because they are just not good enough to "show off" their work. As their manager I have to do that for them so they least get some recognition and ensure their effort translates into good pay.

Showing up on time on a big stage is a skill, this team has never had it.

I’m hoping we are in bizarro world and are the recipients of TB having a good first few games then they become the team
With the epic collapse for a change. Mirror-verse if you will. It could happen, right? Sigh.

Bad music choices to start the game.

It’s just game 1 and they’ll probably show up, they did the first half of the second, but what a fucking pathetic shit show.

It had everything. Not showing up in the first, two goals in the last seconds of a period, a Leaf getting himself suspended for the 4th time in 7 years (again, really?), the goalie can’t stop a beach ball, the challenge by Keefe was so dumb, he just gave up on the game.

they are just a pathetic shit show until they can prove that they aren’t.

Tampa gets Patriots style officiating. You're fighting that and the Goodyear Blimp in the crease.

Not if McCauley is the ref in future games in this series

The way the Leafs treated the 3rd period is also indicative of who they are. Last year we kill them and they punish us physically in the 3rd setting the tone for the next game.

The Leafs? Meh...let's just watch the clock tick by so we can get out of this empty building.

This is who they are. They are nice guys who happen to be hockey players. Nice guys, at least a collection of them, don't win. I dont care how brilliantly skilled they are.

Well it's over if they lose this series. Things are a changing. I expect them to win it though.

One thing is for certain. Game 2 is basically a must win. If we drop game 2, this series is over.

They do. And yet we keep hearing you can't put young players in because they might get nervous and make mistakes. Where is this coming from vets are the way to go?

Our coaches.

Yet we lose to organizations not afraid to play kids and watch clubs win the whole thing with 22-25 yr olds making up key parts of their depth.

At this point we have to accept that it's a heavily flawed part of our organizational philosophy.

Fire everyone

Remember in year one of the current Leaf era, we had like, a dozen rookies on the team, went from last place to the playoffs against pretty much all the pundits’ opinions and took the league’s top seed to six games (in a series that also featured five OT’s)?

I mean, I’m pretty sure I remember that happening, at least. But it’s clear Dubas & Keefe have forgotten.

We were young and so fast back in 2017.
And I guess we are fine with McCabe's 0 playoff games before last night because he's 29. Not sure how all of this works.
