it's pretty hilarious - the whole point about line matching is to get favorable matchups like our 1st line out against their 4th line, and keefe's brain shortcircuited and took away that advantage from himself.

Forget everything else - you've got the reigning Hart trophy winner and the best player in the series. Fucking treat him like it. We need Auston Matthews to impose his will on this series, no matter who else is on the ice. The only possible correct starting lineup has Auston Matthews taking the opening faceoff.

After years of Babcock's infuriating over-matching we're right back at it. Kill me.

He even started the game with his 2nd line instead of his 1st. His ROR-JT veteran pairing that he trusts that went a -2 on the night instead of 2 of the top 10 forwards on planet earth. This is the root of his fucking problems, he trusts vetgritensity over literally fucking everything else.

Like that shot of Auston on the bench just before the opening draw. What is going through his head? I scored 50 in 50 last year but coach wants to start ROR, who's played 13 games with our group.

It's fucking insane. ROR is a fine player and has looked like a solid 2C since the trade, but are Auston & Mitch the franchise or no? Literally the most success we've had is when we've rode Matthews and whoever was on his line like the fucking thoroughbred he is. Maybe do that more?

gotta rest up Matty and Mucho after playing them 23 mpg+ down the stretch so we could dress 9 D.
 
giving Matthews extra playing time sounds a lot like what a coach off the street might do.....but that type of crazy might work

The one thing about ice time though is the Leafs we’re on the PK like half of period 1 and 2 and Keefe quit on the game after the Perry goal.
