The win does overshadow the fact that Matthews went beast mode in that OT. He was the best player on the ice tonight, in a game with all the best players.

That's what the Soviets tried to do in 1972. Game 8 was tied late in the 3rd and since there was no overtime, the Soviets were going to claim victory in the basis of GF since each team at that point were 3-3-1. Thankfully Henderson put a stop to that argument.
