Four Nations

I must have missed the sedition part. All I know is that 99 has hung out at Mar a Lago a few times. Didn’t think he was encouraging Dotard to impose tariffs on Canada and annexing us.

I mean, the guy doing the threatening has suggested Wayne as governor and we haven't heard a word from Wayne. We're into "what do you call 9 people at dinner with a Nazi" territory here.

you're really overstating this argument. I get that supporting Trump is not the same thing as being a smart, measured conservative (if such a thing even exists anymore), but his being friends with the guy and maybe being a long-time conservative is not a crime. Serious character flaws yes, but come on ... That is not sedition and it doesn't make him a Nazi.

Sure… I wish Wayner would have said something. But he didn’t. And to my knowledge that’s perfectly on brand because outside of hockey, I have zero idea about how he feels about anything. Just like I don’t know what John Tavares would say if his wife asked him about Mark Carney

I didn't say he was a Nazi. What I'm saying is that friendly association with extremists/authoritarians of whatever stripe does actually make you one of them. I mean, are we really confused about what Trump is in February 2025?

What's being discussed though is what level of association with a guy threatening annexation of a nation is too much and too friendly before you stop being a hero in said nation? I don't think it's crazy to say that Wayne has passed that threshold.

Can we stop pretending that this is normal politics though? I don't care what Wayne thinks about Mark Carney, or inter provincial trade, or the carbon tax, etc, etc. I do however care what he thinks about one of his buddies overthrowing us and yes believe that his silence on the matter, says a lot.

Trump's post basically says that Wayne told him Canada is its own country and that he supports that. Saying he's guilty of "sedition" is a WeHave level argument.

Gretz is a coward, no doubt about that. But I blame social media for raising the temperature on all sides here. It's definitely not politics-as-usual, we are in an unprecedented situation, I get all that, but there's no reason to make things up either and this is absolutely hyperbole.

Fair enough, doesn't meet the technical definition of sedition. But we're talking about removing shit like road signs. I'm not suggesting he be jailed.

Where are all the other hockey greats speaking out for Canada? What about other celebs like Ryan Gosling, Justin Bieber, The Weeknd?

You don’t need Trump’s cell phone number to weigh in on him, as Jesse Marsch proved the other day

Trump wasn't pumping any of their tires for governor of an annexed state. You're right, if Trump had suggest Justin Bieber as governor after Biebs had spent inauguration night hanging out with Trump by the pool at MAL, I'd kind of expect a statement from the Biebs distancing himself from his buddy's bullshit.

We didn't pick Gretzky to shit on at random bro, fuck.

Gettting pumped is not a requirement to criticise Trump.

Marsch weighed in.

Popovich and Kerr have ranted against Trump
for other issues

Most jocks don’t.

Most jocks don't wear maga hats when maga is threatening their country.

Very weird goal post moving.

Nobody is trying to rename mark messier trail

Good thing Donald Trump is famously known for telling the truth, so we can be confident that’s genuinely what Gretzky believes and is telling him behind closed doors and not just PR spin to try and salvage Wayne’s standing in Canada.

And like I’ve said before—I don’t give two shits what Wayne allegedly says in private if he’s not willing to say it in public.

His wife commented so obviously he is aware nobody lies him

Not a requirement, sure. But it does make it necessary if you want to maintain your status as heroic person in the history of the country being threatened. I mean, we've seen Gretzky once since this thing started and he gave out what are basically fucking MAGA hats to team Canada.

He has a history as not just buddies with Trump, but a MAGA supporter

He's in this just a little bit deeper than the Biebs is.
