GDT 02/29/2016 - TBay @ Tor - Enter the Flow

Carrick's known for dropping the mitts in the AHL. He also had 132 PIM's in Hershey last season.

He's a tough little player.

What a sequence by the young guys at the end of the game there.

Gardiner with one of his worst games this year. He looked more nervous than the rookies.

A little too nonchalant in the last minute and yeah, Gardiner was trash tonight by his standard.

Was nice to see Babcock give the Nylander-Hyman-Kappy line a go at the end.

Those last two minutes were the first time my heart was beating during a Leafs game this season.

If that's a sign of things to come...awesome.

Gardiner is one of the most frustrating players I've ever watched. All tools, no box.

It hard to keep perspective with him because his tools are true premium tools. He looks like he should be a top 10-15 defender in the NHL. He just doesn't have the high end hockey IQ to be that guy though and never will. The hope is that one of Dermott, Nielsen, or Carrick supplants him as the #2.

Well, none of our rookies looked out of place at all tonight. And neither has Leivo, with his four goals in the past five games, or Leipsic. And both of those guys were sent down to make room for the kids playing tonight.

There's going to be some pretty fierce competition for jobs at training camp next season.

Only a matter of time before the young guys get acclimated to the speed and ruggedness of the NHL. The kids def got the skill.

TAKER ON RAW!!!!

Fun game guys. The kids got their first taste of the big show, had lots of flashy moments and came within inches of scoring, and the tank goes on losing only 2-1. Not a bad evening. Would've loved a win with Willy and Kapa scoring, but I'll take this.

Also, nice to have a good GDT going.

Ya, its a real problem. He has really good hands, a great shot, and absolute elite unteachable skating. The one thing he is lacking - Hockey IQ - is the one thing that could possibly limit a guy like that. So tough to just accept that he is what he is, even that's a really useful player.
