Man was I impressed that game.... lots of speed and skill. I loved the cockiness of the young guns, I mean that in a good way.... they were using their speed and smarts to create chances, and weren't afraid to make bold moves despite it only being their 1st game. I was the most impressed with Nylanders two-way play though, he made some aggressive picks in his own end which lead to offensive chances in the other.

I know its only their first game for the 4some BUT I'm impressed with what I have seen so far.

All 4(Nylander, Kapanen, Hyman, Soshnikov) look NHL ready.

I have no idea what to think of Holland any more. It's not even his misses, it's the fact he has 1 out of every 5-6 games where he looks good. It's like he doesn't want to play unless he has so much room to skate. Babcock can't be happy with his game(and he complained about that at start of season and then Holland got going for a short time). Feel like some other kids might do better than him.

He's an enigma.... he's a big bodied guy who can skate and has skill, but he's never put it all together either, hes a very frustrating player to watch IMO. With Nylander here, Marner knocking on the door step plus Kadri and Bozak down the middle, I'm just not sure the point of him? I could see him being bait next deadline...

Nylander on realizing he was in the bigs: "When you’re standing in front of Steve Stamkos on a draw ... this is the NHL.”

Stamkos on young #Leafs. "We knew they had a couple rookies that are top picks with a lot of skill, and they showed that tonight."

Stamkos on young #Leafs. " Yea that Nylander is going to look damn fine on my wing next year".

I kid i kid.

Kasperi Kapanen:

That was definitely highlight of the game for me. I had some reservations on Kapa but after last night's game I feel much better. He showed a lot of skill throughout the game.

I think all 4 young guys show they can play in the NHL, right now. Granted it is just 1 game, but they were ready.

Of the 4, Nylander is clearly head and shoulder above the rest. He CAN play top 6 in NHL right now, and be a pretty good forward already.

Kapanen can be a useful winger on a good line but he himself I don't think he can drive a line (yet).

It seems to have gone unmentioned, but that Nylander pass on the Kapanen play was pretty sick in a subtle way.

Passing behind him, through the TB player? Not sure Babs would love that decision, but when it works, it's a thing of beauty.

I think he would.... Babcock loves when his players make plays, as opposed to just "dumping it in" (ala a Carlyle system). I know it was one game but man I was impressed with Nylanders 2-way play.

I think that there are some players that naturally play a better game in the NHL than the AHL. I think Kapp may be that kind of player.
