Normally this kind of game would be the typical leafs' trap game where they don't show up against an easy opponent. But i have a feeling that with all the downtime and all the injuries tha they'll actually show up for this one, which should be more than enough against a weak team on a back2back.
This game is kinda significant because it could really help get the team up near the top of the standings as the leageu crosses the 1/4 mark slash american thanksgiving part of the season. Personally i have our upcoming florida trip as the first real signpost of the season - it'll take us right to end of november, it'll be just past the 1/4 mark of the season and american thanksgiving, and it'll mark the end of the last few weeks of lots of rest, after a torrid first 30 days of the season. And of course it's games against our most important current rivals, and an early division statement on the year. And it looks like we'll likely have Matthews/Knies/Domi back, and given how the lineup is playing right now we might actually get to see our Big 3 split onto 3 lines to see what happens.
the florida trip will also mark our last "rested' team in a while - december and most of january is pretty rammed, with i think 26gms in 52 days and tons more back to backs.
But taking care of business in this "easy" game tonight is pretty important - a win moves us into 7th place and in striking distance of top 3/4 with a good florida trip. A loss tonight bumps us down to 10th and suddenly a bad florida trip could drop us right back into mediocrity at what i'm looking at as the first signpost of the season.
