Moving on from Jonas and his phony pony ways...

I hope the Leafs respond well tonight. In hindsight Saturday night was a blessing this early in the season to not get ahead of themselves and stop playing half-way through a game you really didn't deserve to be dominating on the scoreboard. These kids can get excited at times with all the offensive production and they start cheating the game. You would hope after year 3-4 that they would learn but sometimes you need a reminder from a scrappy team like the Habs. Full marks to them coming back and taking it in the shootout.

Getting good goaltending would also help. God I hope we find a real backup.
 
I'm more concerned about them defending better. They should be a better possession team this year based on their skill upgrades up and down the lineup so at the very least they should have the puck much more and may not have to defend as much. But their play without the puck will once again be a very valid concern. After all it's their only potential weakness I can see outside their backup goalie. And that isn't all on their d.. in fact, it mostly isn't. The good news is, as we saw last playoffs it's basically all about effort - they flipped the switch quite well when the stakes were higher and looked great defensively. I would just prefer they become a bit more consistent with that throughout the season.

If Mitch cheats for offense, whatever. It's a bit annoying considering he makes 11 shmil but I can live with that. He will make it worthwhile offensively. But seeing guys like johnsson and kappy fly the zone and play lazy without the puck doesn't work for me.
 
Hyman will get that line going again, bump Kapanen down to the 3rd line.
