GDT #33: 24/12/20 - The Poor Dumb Ednas

If all you care about when evaluating a player is their performance over the first 40% of this season only, then...

Marner 32gms, +6.7 (+17.2 pace)
Tavares 31gms, +6.2 (+16.0 pace)
Nylander 32gms, +4.5 (+11.5 pace)
Matthews 23gms, +3.6 (+12.8 pace)

Tavares near the top? Take those numbers out of the trash. Those numbers are now a 10 with classic good looks and a masculine physique.

25 whole games as just a solid 1st liner this year don't completely change that he's proven he's super duper elite over an 8yr career now.
I have no qualms about that. I keep thinking that rating is just for this season.

Frankly, it really should be. I don't care much about multi-year ratings in a game thread.

Nice.

I mean i care more about how good a player is than how good his production has been over the last 30gms.

Sure, but there's value in both obviously.

More than 30 games and you're looking at performance from 6+ months ago, which doesn't really have much bearing on the current game.

I mean do you really think even 40 or 50 games of matthews being a ppg player means he's actually just a ppg player now?

Tavares had a whole season last year of being like a 60pt type payer and these net ratings still said he was probably better than that going into this season.

Of course I don't think that.

I'm just curious about this year's performance. And he's been worse than they other three guys this year, so that superman rating made no sense.
