GDT #36: DEC 20, 7:00: Leafs @ Rags - Be good for goodness' sake

'Member when people were panicking after losing to two of the hottest teams in the league on back to back nights? Honeymoon over, etc.

Yeah, I 'member that.

18 points in 13 games since Keefe. 114 point pace. Everything about it screams sustainable according to underlying analytics.

Greg Millen: "The Leafs can really manage their bench now with it being a back-to-back tomorrow."

**Looks at clock and sees there's a minute left in the game**

Nylander's had a hat trick before. I'm pretty sure Mitchy never has in his career.

He just wanted it, and the passing lane was covered pretty well. He didn't get off a bad shot either.

Important win. Well played, and Fred, stand on his head Andersen, didn't.

Keefe is bank imo. I am not worried about making the playoffs all that much now.

Now if Andersen goes down with a large injury, that can change in a hurry.

But nice win.

AND, I don't even think we played all that well, I bet Keefe calls out a couple of guys privately. Barrie being one.

But we have some really interesting grunts now. And rotating them, starving them for NHL playing time, is working out well.

Engvall is blowing my mind.

What is his contract status?

Holl is BIG, Engvall is BIG. I don't want to lose big mobile guys. At all.

But these guys are having their part time agents, watering their mouths with champagne right about now. Ughhh.

Mucho fancies himself a shooter to be sure. Or he's trying to get that side of things going. Guy had a real muffin when he came into the league. But, dude, Willy has an objectively better canon and getting the puck over vastly increases the chance of scoring.

Looks like we've killed 25/28 penalties since Keefe took over and scored 3 shorties.

Not bad.

They're killing a lot more and looking a lot better while doing it. They're not just a tight box of our least mobile, least talented players surrounded by the other team putting on a shooting gallery.

Encouraging, considering what a huge role a shit PK has played in both our series losses to the Bruins.

Thoughts on muzzin? Never see you discuss him.

And Barrie sucks. He doesn’t do anyyyyyywhere near as much as he should offensively and in transition to make up for all the suckage in our own zone. It’s almost certain we’re not resigning him even if we wanted to, and he’s not exactly an important contributor on the roster, so really Dubie should be looking into ways to turn this asset into something.

Also, I know most of you will laugh but Spezza brings down the Goat and Tima line. I’m really hoping Moore knocks him out of the lineup when he returns, even just to test it out.

Funny how all the various configurations of the 4th line have looked pretty good under Keefe, and the one constant has been Spezza.

Must be a coincidence.
