GDT #36: DEC 20, 7:00: Leafs @ Rags - Be good for goodness' sake

He’s not good. He’s soft, pretty slow moving, can’t keep up with the driving, crash and bang cycle style of the other two, and always is good for a few dumb plays. You’ll all see the light at some point.
 
You know, one of the happiest guys tonight should probably be Kasperi Kapanen. He's tried and failed to play left wing on both Matthews' & Tavares' line, which makes keeping him in the top-6 a dicey proposition. But Nylander's moved over to left wing the past few games (where he played half a season with the Marlies) and scored two goals tonight (one of which was set up by Kapanen).

If Nylander can effectively play on the left side, that clears Kappy's path to staying on the Matthews line.

Agree to disagree.

This just seems like a case of you always randomly picking a player or two to hate against all reason. This year it's Spezza & Muzzin.

But both are pretty solid in the roles we have them playing.

Both have been weak. But just watch Spezza closely. He always goes into traffic with the puck and loses it there. He always holds on to the puck for a second or two too long, and then passes it off and has it get intercepted. He often loses the puck when his linemates are deep in the offensive zone anticipating that he'll push the puck deep for them to cycle, and then it's an odd man rush the other way. He's never doing what he should be. Just see how Tima and Goat play together and play off each other. It's legit beautiful.
 
Keefe "handles" the situation" well. He looks cooler than anyone on the team. I know it seems 2019, but he might be the best looking Leaf, on the entire team.

As crazy as that sounds, people live in a visual world now. Keefe is the best looking member of the team, and he seems to manage a team, very well.

Babcock, was a weird, bizarre guy and I hated him for the past three seasons.

Anyone who says coaching, is minor, in terms of overall performance, is nuts imho.

I have complete confidence that the best looking guy in the Leaf organization, is going to deliver.

And no, I am not one of those, even though, they are venerated these days and get their own washrooms. LOL. You GUYS!!!
 
Muzzin is the balls of this team. End of Story.

He made a stick check in the second period that was just amazing.

The guy is balls up. I entreaty everyone to concentrate on him exclusively. He is the only guy in the lineup who strikes fear. To me? Very, very valuable player.

Sure he gets chased down sometimes. And sometimes its by some fourth liners, but he strikes hard at times and smokes people.

Shit guys, this is what we always wanted.

And like I have said, his gramps tells my contact, constantly, he loves wearing the blue and the white.

LOF, start watching how guys back up, when he is around. Don't concentrate, on him being occasionally stripped.

Anyways, Keefe seems to know how to deploy him.

Keefe is the coach I want to see carry around the Stanley Cup.

This is a very, very good team. Matthews is chilling like a Mario Lemieux. Sure. But he delivers.

Dubas might be a genius at delivering top end AHlers under the cap to come up and deliver as well.

I like, no I LOVE what I am seeing.

Dude, , he scares the opposition, a lot. Much like Chara. And he sure ain't as big as Chara. Younger sure. But Chara, is still a big time, playoff beast.

Funny how all the orgs, that many of us have laughed at. Colorado, Boston, Arizona, etc... stuck to their guns and are looking pretty darn good.

Good lesson on life. Listen to your gut and heart, might serve you very well. Is anyone laughing at Neely now? Sakic?

Can we keep Muzzin, dunno. But if we can. We sure should.

He scares guys, a lot. Can he keep it up for six years at 9 million. Maybe not.

But if we win the Cup this year, he will be a big part of it.

Barrie, for sure, is a goner.

But Muzzin was a great pickup and a steal. Grundstrom, is okay, Durzi, pfft...

And getting robertson? Seems to be a good steal..

New York is a pretty darn good club now and very well coached and we beat them in their own house. Keefer, we are not worthy.
 
I have made 7 figures a few times. But unlike Muzzin, I didn't have to go out on the ice and take a massive cheap hit.

I didn't have to get concussed.

The quality of the NHL is amazing...

The skating, the sticks skills, its everthing, everything, Gord Stellick GM of the Toronto Maple Leafs envisioned, sorta crappy, we wanted it quite a while back.

But finally we have the right coach, to get us on track...

Sheldon Keefe.. My bet is on him.
 
And yeah, showing my age, but how many of you guys have sat beside an NHL gm, for forty games for two straight seasons?
 
I’m betting on the Leafs too, and Keefe, and love Engvall and Mikheyev and Timashov AND Gauthier.

But Muzz ain’t all that. He’s as awesome defensively and physically for us as Barrie has been a dynamic offensive force for us.

He rarely punishes anyone. He gets hit more than they do usually. And then he can’t make the short passes to break out, and also stupidly ices the puck without pressure, like he did twice in succession near the end tonight. I’m watching, trust me. The reason I don’t like him much is because he could do all the things you say he does, but he actually doesn’t do those things with any regularity.
 
Where was his big hit tonight? Did he touch anyone? One hit in one game somehow created the legend of muzzelda for you.
