Has he ever had this many young players at once to misevaluate? i mean Knies just got here and Robertson was always hurt.No knock on Knies as a prospect but Nicky has been far more impressive for me. Keefe's talent evaluations has completely turned to mush this year. I swear it was never this bad.
Eh, blue line and goaltending is not great regardless if optimized properly.
Oh 1000%I mean, maybe but who the fuck knows until you play it properly. Trying to shoe horn Rielly into a shut down type role with Brodie, even while Brodie has been horrific for most of the season is firing worthy on it's own.
Nobody is going to blame you for your team not playing well when you've tried everything and nothing has worked. I've still never seen him use McCabe-Lilly as a shutty pair. Is it ideal? Fuck no. Is it better than this version of Brodie and Mo? 1000% Then give Mo Timmins and let them dominate possession, score a bunch of goals and give up a 2-0 once every few games. Mo doesn't need a babysitter if he's getting secondary matchups. Then throw whoever you want that night of Benoit/Brodie/Gio out there for 15 minutes.
The worst thing you can do when something clearly isn't working is keep jamming it in a position to continue failing.
Narrator- It was possible. It's impossible for...
Matthews
Marner
Nylander
Tavares
Bertuzzi
Knies
Robertson
Domi
Jarnkrok
Holmberg
Rielly
Lilly
McCabe
Brodie
Gio
Benoit
...to not be a contender. Literally impossible.
They're weak on D and have to have Woll step right back in and be a great goalie.
G gets addressed when Woll returns, and they have plenty of trade capital to add a big first pair guy on D that would push everyone back and delete the weakest dman.
Plus they have cheap young talent like Minten and Cowan who could step in and contribute.
A Lindholm and Hanifin/Tanev trade also cures all ails. But they have to dump this coach who is way past his time here.
No one here thinks Keefe isnt a massive problem, but he's far from the only one. It's not. Keefe is basically drunk driving at this point, and Tre needs to step up and show that he's actually on top of shit and not some ghost.
I wasn't! They got crushed by shit goaltending but were generally crushing the nerdies. Leafs have been mediocre on the nerdies all season. It's their worst year since the bubble season. It’s a long season. Not that long ago, almost everyone was laughing at the Oiler’s apparent demise
So say a Lindholm/Hanifin trade gets done, you still see any holes? No one here thinks Keefe isnt a massive problem, but he's far from the only one.
Too many holes on the backend, too many guys seemingly turning to dust from their norms, and honestly, the only reason to believe in Woll as some sort of savior is because every other alternative is very grim.
Um assuming you dont get both, then, whichever the other one isn't acquired? So say a Lindholm/Hanifin trade gets done, you still see any holes?
FairQuantity vs quality on d is the classic mistake. They need quality. Just one guy changes everything. Oilers went from a damn good team to serious contenders overnight with Ekholm while everyone was kicking and screaming about them needing multiple d.
I thought for last couple of years Leafs had real good depth on D, but rather "Meh" top 4. Now they have neither.Quantity vs quality on d is the classic mistake. They need quality. Just one guy changes everything. Oilers went from a damn good team to serious contenders overnight with Ekholm while everyone was kicking and screaming about them needing multiple d.
Ya at the end of the day I can’t think of many difficult stops jones needed to make, 3 goals were absolute muffins and all but the miller skate goal had some goalie stench. Jones was realbad last night.Goalie's gotta make some saves.
Yeah, I guess they like knies size/speed but he’s a puck chaser defensively and his offensive game has been just ok. He’s not a guy who needs to play 82 games this year (neither is Robertson for that matter). No knock on Knies as a prospect but Nicky has been far more impressive for me. Keefe's talent evaluations have completely turned to mush this year. I swear it was never this bad.
RORWhile I'm at it, let's play a round of our old favourite: Guess the mystery guy
Since Nov 1st:
John Tavares: 1.45 P/60
Mystery Guy: 2.59 P/60
Who is the mystery guy?
