GDT #44 - 2024/01/20 - poor nucks fans

Ya at the end of the day I can’t think of many difficult stops jones needed to make, 3 goals were absolute muffins and all but the miller skate goal had some goalie stench. Jones was realbad last night.

He made 0 difficult stops.

Unfortunately the bubble has burst - .857sv% last 5gms. (1-3-1, 4.09gaa).

It was probably always going to happen but coach playing the shit out of him probably didn't help.

Quantity vs quality on d is the classic mistake. They need quality. Just one guy changes everything. Oilers went from a damn good team to serious contenders overnight with Ekholm while everyone was kicking and screaming about them needing multiple d.

People fail to grasp that when you acquire a massive upgrade to the first pairing, you are also upgrading the 2nd and 3rd pairing as players slide down the depth chart

Brodie needs to go. He's been wrecked with his family situation, and Its understandable...but when he is quoted as saying hockey doesn't matter..or something to that effect after the flames game, he is not in the right space. So trade him...cuz you ain't resigning him.

NHL has the assistance program. Just put him in that. Not going to be able to trade him for anything, and the upheaval in his life would just make his personal issues worse. Pretty sure that allows us to LTIR him as well, and just use the cap at the deadline to add a replacement.

I don’t think he’s bad enough to just scratch. There’s no way he can’t contribute in a more limited role. But Keefe is blind to any change in circumstances and just likes to keep doing what he’s doing. He probably pencils in Schenn and Babushkin until someone reminds him they’re gone. And then he weeps.

Can we put him in net??

To a lesser extent, that's what the addition of Hronek did for the Canucks. He's obviously not a massive upgrade but still an upgrade over career 3rd pairing guys and/or journeyman defenseman taking up top 4 minutes. Granted, with a guy like Myers still in the top 4, team can't be expected to get anywhere beyond round 1.

I just saw another player put there. I wonder if that actually might be a good thing. Have him go there until the playoffs and see maybe if he feels better to return in time for round one.
Use all that cap space and Klingbergs for a big number one and maybe a big number 5/6 to be with Benoit on the bottom pair.

I think Lilly and mcabe with different coaching might be able to do something
