GDT #53: 28/2/22 - Sanction the Russkys

I get the wanting to face punch in situations like this but if plays like that get JT to go out and have the follow up shifts he did after then I like that response much better

 
I don't get it. they DID do something -- turn it up a notch and put the caps away with speed and skill.

that's a lot better than some pushing and shoving or a staged Simmonds tussle.

I simply don't understand the lizard brain desire to see players punching each other. They don't do it in the other pro sports and never have.
 
A huge percentage of Leaf fans would rather we had lost out fucking minds, fought everyone, taken the extra minor penalty and gotten scored on...because we would have proved that we can't be pushed around.

my baby boomer family members think the turning point of the game was Simmonds shoving ppl
 
Tavares’ work ethic is unparalleled. I don’t recall seeing anyone ever bust his ass on every single shift like this guy. At least 50% of his points are pure effort and outworking the opposition. He’s one of my favorite Leafs ever. And the goals he’s due are going to come in bunches real soon.
 
It’s interesting to think what might’ve been had we picked first that year and took Tavares instead of Kadri. Do we lose to the Bruins in that series? No Kadri suspensions against the later Bruins and Caps. And Tavares tearing it up in his youth.

To be fair, he sometimes had to play with Matthews and Nylander instead of Matthews and Marner…😜

Better stat would be P/60 w Matthews and Bunting hasn’t played the whole season next to him like Hyman always did. Prob would be insane the difference in production
 
Kudos to Mrazek. I just watched the highlights again and he made 3-4 doozies.

And just saw Keefe say Tavares has been pretty sick before praising his great work on those goals.
 
It isn't the reactive crap that most seem to have a problem with, it is the proactive crap of not hitting anyone out there.
When Matthews is hitting bodies out there and engvall prances around like he is the second coming of Gilbert Perrault.
Drives me nuts that he has a hit and turns away. Hitting is allowed in the game and I think the best way is to initiate not respond, Jmho.
You put yourself in a position to get nailed then that is your problem, keep your head up .... Unless it is dirty play.
