We have the upgrade silly, we just didn't play him.Was Holl dressed for game 7? Because if the answer to that is "yes" then your D needs a yuge friggin' upgrade.
And Babushkie is the issue, not Holl.

This scares me btw. Muzzin is a huge huge loss. But I think you do it.

I don't think you can take his dollars and just throw them at another D. It's unnecessary. You're using it for F.This year's Muzzin isn't that huge a loss though, and there's a non zero chance that he's going to be less and less of a loss moving forward. I'm good with sending Muzzin out, and spending to go get our next Muzzin and doing this:
Rielly-Lilly
Next Muzzin-Brodie
Gio-Sandin
Holl
But I think that huge loss is already occurring, we just have the choice to be proactive about dealing with it or wait to Robidas him in summer 2023.
why would those teams make that trade?D doesn't need an upgrade. It needs a downgrade in terms of trading some money out to reinvest it in F because we have the luxury of Lilly and Sandin.
Nylander for Tkachuk or Svechnikov or someone like them would be probably just what the doctor ordered if we're looking for personnel upgrades through hockey trades. Would miss him though.
Ovy didn’t have those series either until late in his career.LOF simply has Crosby/Prime Ovy/Marchand expectations. Matthews had a very good series. Excellent even. But he has not yet built up that playoff resume like the other 3. We are all waiting for that heroic series clinching performance from him. It'll happen. But I get the criticism and I understand why he would want more. He wasn't alone but he simply didn't create much today.
He sat for a handful of games end of season for an undisclosed injury which almost cost him the Rocket and his 60. I’d wager he didn’t play like the world beater hair on fire player because he’s playing through something. Many are this time of year but when it’s your best player, it’s harder to put the team on his back I’d wager.Matty is the undisputed best player on the team, the best goal scorer in the league, the one that literally wins us games on his own.
I don't think it's superhero expectations. I'm looking for him to do what he did in the regular season what, like 20 times maybe, just once in a game 6 or 7 in the playoffs.

So 6 goals per playoff year?Ovy scored 30 goals in his first 5 playoff years and the Caps won rounds
So 6 goals per playoff year?
The point I was referring to was they didn’t win those rounds because Ovy single handedly put the team on his back is all.not the point at all , team won rounds
Thought he was talking about Matthews? He gave up the series defining muffin against the Habs imo and didn't give up one of those here against the Lightning, so okay. Short series numbers can be liars. But I don't think he was particularly good against the Lightning. Felt like for every save we got that we absolutely needed, a much easier to stop chance found it's way through him.
Calgary unwisely gave him a 3 year deal and it expired the year he hit 104 points. His little bro got 8.2 for not even 50 points yet. That family is cutthroat. He's looking at 10 per +I could see Calgary giving up Matt for Nylander +
