Paying premium prices for depth players on the worst teams seems dumb to me.

There's usually teams that spend a bit more and add actual impact players or find some good value deals.

When you can get value on underrated guys like Lehkonen who are nerdy gods on bad teams that you're interested in re signing at market rate, sure.

But paying for gritensity is almost always a guaranteed overpay in acquisition cost and 9 times out of 10 those guys bring less impact on the ice than their reputations suggest. Laughton is David Kampf if Kampf hit and had an 18 goal season playing 18 minutes a game one time a few years ago.

Should half your blueline be Boosh, Eddy, Benoit? I would say definitely no.

unfortunately boosh and eddy were better than Brodie, Gio, Benoit, and Lilly. and iirc they only cost us 3rds?

Two thirds, a fifth, and a sixth.

I think it's a failure to go into the playoffs with that being half your blueline.

yeah but I'm pretty sure Calgary screwed us and wouldn't trade Tanev to Brad.

funny that we ended up with Tanev and Dallas ended up with Boosh in the end tho.

That doesn't mean a d corps with all three of those guys is a winning solution. Being better than the rest of the slop on the team doesn't make them good!

This is what got me. You have Benoit and you add those 2 as well? And look how bad they were at handling the puck and how many times they ended-up icing it.
