I thought going into the season there was a severe drop off in talent or whatever after Price, Pacioretty, Subban, and Gallagher. Some may claim now that Pacioretty and Subban are not leading the way enough now, but really.....they need help. The trick continues to be surrounding these 4 and Galchenyuk with better players especially up front. The bargain basement guy are now showing why they were bargain basement guys....it appears we are destined to remain what we are and have been for a few years-not enough good players to seriously contend.

DD belongs in the Swiss league.
MB had a horrible off season....Plekanec should have been dealt for starters, his time here has passed. DD should have been moved too.
After that huge fail with Semin and Kassian as potential help for the top six.
He should have moved one of them. Kassian and Semin were disastrous moves.
Yeah MB would have been completely overwhelmed trying to find a 2nd and 3rd line centre.
I would have moved Pleks cause he may have actually netted a decent return.

Not landing Patrick Sharp was a bust of epic proportions. FFS MB worked for the Hawks. They took a pathetic deal, in their own conference I might add, with little cap relief. How does MB not get ahead of that one?
I get Oshie. I get Saad, although I think we could have delivered a similar package for Saad. I certainly get Kessel. But when that many high end RWs are dealt and you can't get one, especially Sharp, there's a problem.

Sharp didn't want to go to Montreal
14 has even more value now locked up and no clauses in his deal , but MB won't have the cahones to do it .

Depends how far we slide I guess.
Maybe price will re injure himself and we will be well positioned for a lottery pick.

Subban has been very good this year. He's on pace for his second highest point total ever.
Galchenyuk is playing the best hockey of his career.
Gallagher was playing the best hockey of his career before he got hurt.
Pacioretty is Pacioretty. He goes on long streaks followed by ice cold short streaks.
Those guys are doing what they always do. However after that (the last 3 weeks or so) the rest of the team has been full of passengers. During this time Pleks, Markov, Petry, Emelin, Eller, Smith-Pelly, Weise and DD have all be invisible.
