GDT: Canes v. Bruins 1/8 5:00

The Canes close out the season series against the Bruins.

This is the 3rd game of the season between the teams. The Canes have taken 3 of 4 points in the first 2 games, most recently beating the B's in OT on 12/23. Based on practice yesterday, it looks like the only lineup change will be Tennyson in for Murphy. Hopefully, he's the pre-Christmas version, not the Murphy-like drone we've seen since. Ward goes in goal for his 16th straight start.

The Bruins are 2nd in the Atlantic with 46 points in 42 games. The beat the Panthers 4-0 in Florida last night with Rask in goal. Brad Marchand had 2 goals. He's tied with Torey Krug for the team lead with 22 assists. David Pastrnak has 19 goals.

Tonight is another Homegrown Series night. Smoked brisket sandwiches with a Cheerwine barbecue sauce are at the stand outside section 109. Appalachian Mountain Brewery and Bold Rock Ciders will be pouring outside section 129 instead of their usual location upstairs. No local music today; travel issues for the band.

One more thing...if you have tickets and can't make it to the game, the tickets can be exchanged for any future game except for January 20.
 
And look ... if you're not comfortable driving on the ice (and yes, Northern visitors I said ice, NOT snow) then take a pass, yeah. Nothing to feel ashamed of. No way I'm playing dodge a drunk in these conditions on the way home.
 
Now the channel is completely gone for me (not available). They're probably screwing with my box and really breaking things all because somebody just forgot to flip some programming switch somewhere.
 
Yippee. After 45 minutes, two different service reps and rebooting the box, I can finally watch the game.
And they tell me in February I'll be switched over to Charter/Spectrum and their new plans. Can't wait.

So...is that one of Bill Peters' sons in that Kinetico commercial we are subjected to 5 times a game?

Anyone know what happened to all those shorthanded goal moves Jordan Staal had as a rookie? Sheesh he has no moves at all.

Never a bad thing when your guys outshoot the team that's on the power play. Too bad Staal couldn't get either of those chances to go.

Bruins announcers take a potshot at the ice on the way out... Yeah, that's why your team's down 2-1, not the fact that the Canes outplayed them.

The "cover" by Rattie... smart? Or should he have played it to get it out of the zone?

Stempniak's "trip" looked more like a dive, but whatever.
