The Canes kick off a 5 game homestand on National TV.

After playing 11 of their first 15 games on the road, the Canes settle in for their first homestand of the season. They play 7 of the next 8 at home, with only a trip to Philly breaking it up. They practiced yesterday but, aside from noting that Raanta had a maintenance day, it was radio silence. The lines were tweaked for Monday’s practice, we’ll see what they look like at the morning skate.

Svechnikov - Aho - Jarvis
Bunting - Kotkaniemi - Necas
Martinook - Staal - Teräväinen
Noesen - Drury - Fast

The Flyers sit at NHL .500 with 15 points in 15 games. They’ve won 2 in a row, returning from a west coast trip but are 4-6 in their last 10. Travis Konecny leads with 9 goals, Cam Atkinson is right behind with 8. Travis Sanheim has 12 assists. Carter Hart started 8 games in goal but hasn't played since November 1, he was on IR with a mid-body injury and food poisoning. He’s at 2.52/.913. He’s backed up by Samuel Ersson who is at 3.43/.855 in 6 appearances. Their PP is bad. Really bad, tied for 30th at 7.7% with 4 goals in 52 chances. The PK is 15th at 79.2%

Note the later start time, TNT has the game with Kenny Albert, Eddie Olczyk and Brian Boucher on the call. It’s also Hockey Fights Cancer night and the team hit UNC Hospital yesterday.

Black jerseys tonight.

Torts has Philly at pretty much his platonic ideal ... 7-7-1. With that results line, the only thing you can do it strive to lose 6 in a row in OT to balance things out across the board. Seriously, it took him a year, but Tortorella has them playing his game now. Annoying, dire, negative .500 hockey. Living that dream.

Seven of the next eight at home for the Canes hopefully will get them settled in nicely to playing their brand of hockey and lots of practice time to work on the kinks in their game. Nothing like the Holiday's to have lots of Canes hockey at home. We have a couple games coming up with tickets as well as the Governors Cup hockey battle with UNC vs State on Monday night!

Walt Ruff says the lineup will be the same as Monday’s practice. TDA will skate with Orlov, Lemieux and Chatfield are the extras. Kochetkov in goal.

Tonight’s officials:

Referees:
Kevin Pollock #33, Brandon Blandina #39

Linesmen:
Derek Nansen #70, CJ Murray #68

Two vets and 2 noobs. Pollock and Nansen have worked a combined 2,900+ games. Blandina and Murray are in their 2nd season on a full NHL contract. Canes were 3-1-1 with Pollock and 3-0 with Blandina last season.

Who did Chatfield piss off to give TDA a start against the team that let him go for nothing? Maybe it serves as some motivation for Tony to strike back? I'd be willing to bet Torts know which buttons to push on DeAngelo to get him off his game. I'm hoping DeAngelo has a long memory and revenge in mind.

Half asleep in the first and more defensive breakdowns yet again…this team can’t get out of it’s own way more often than not this season.
