The Canes get a chance to right the weekend’s wrongs against the lowly Kraken.

it appears that Kochetkov will be back in goal tonight. Perets was sent back to Chicago after performing admirable door opening duties while allowing the first NHL goal of his 21 minute career. Dustin Tokarski was signed to a 2 way deal and is on waivers. Since he was signed to a PTO off the couch, he should clear and will be in Chicago. And as badly as it ended, the Canes still had the 3rd most points in the league in November, although they’ve fallen behind the Caps on points percentage. The lines in practice yesterday:

Robinson - Aho - Necas
Svechnikov - Drury - Roslovic
Martinook - Staal - Jarvis
Carrier - Kotkaniemi - Blake

Slavin - Burns
Orlov - Chatfield
Gostisbehere - Walker
Stillman

Kochetkov | Martin

The Kraken also had a lost weekend, dropping a home and home to the Sharks. That extended their losing streak to 3 games but they’re 5-5 in their last 10, tied for 6th in the Pacific with the Ducks and Sharks. Jared McCann leads with 10 goals and 23 points And is averaging just under a point per game. Chandler Stephenson has 14 assists. Joey Daccord has started 17 games in goal, he’s at 2.56/.912. His last 2 outings have been Martin-like though, allowing 9 goals on 56 shots. He’s backed up by Philipp Grubauer, having a tough season at 3.62/.862 in 7 starts. The sharks gored him for 7 goals on 26 shots on Friday. The Kraken are 22nd in goals per game, tied for 14th in goals against. Their PP is bad, 30th in the league, the PK is 19th.

Black jerseys tonight. FanDuel for TV.

I'm interested to see Aho centering Necas in person for a full game. That's not a pairing that Brindy has ever really used, preferring using them to drive separate units. I think their skill sets mesh pretty well and we've seen them click on the first power play unit this season. I like that combo better than putting Jarvis back on his wing, because Aho and Jarvis are so similar that they tend to kind of create the same waves. And Seattle is a good opponent for tinkering a bit because they're unlikely to jump out and bomb you in the first period if things don't click right away. Their offense tends to be on the slow building variety.

Per Piper Shaw of the Kraken broadcasting team these were the lines at the skate.

McCann-Stephenson-Tanev
Schwartz-Beniers-Gourde
Tolvanen-Wright-Bjorkstrand
Kartye-Stephens-Winterton

FWIW, Stephenson has really struggled defensively. Pairing him with two pretty responsible two-way wings is a good idea. Keep an eye on Bjorkstrand. He always plays well against the Canes and Wright has heated up a little in recent games. Still, nothing scary about any line matchup Brind'Amour wants to run out there really.
