GDT -- Entitled to Entitlements vs. Leafs, 7 PM CBC

Yikes. Missed the game... It'd be a damn shame if we came this far into the season in a playoff spot and didn't make it but we're going to have to start stringing some wins together in short order here.
 
The only thing they did was blow their cushion on the Bruins.

It's going to be a tough run but they are far from out of it

Our blueline can't afford him not playing well either. We've gone from 3 good NHL defenders to 2...Carrick has been better than Gardiner recently, and that's no bueno.
 
It sucks because we've got the foundations of a very good team here.

No doughty or Pronger is coming but a couple of solid veteran D added to the 3 younger guys should be doable.

some veteran presence around the elite kids next year and we'll be winning a lot more of these games.
 
Say what you want about Gardiner, but Rielly is horrific in his own zone. I think he was on for every goal tonight.

It was him who had an easy clear on their third goal, and just pumped it around the boards to Karlsson when he had tons of time to make a play.

Disgraceful.
 
We need to bring in some guys who have been on winning teams.

JVR and Bozak have no idea what that is like or what it takes.
 
Eh, JVR played terrific in 2010 when the Flyers got to the finals. This team just needs time and a better D. I don't subscribe to the theory you need guys who have won cups before to take the next step.
 
All the defenders need to move down a slot for this team to have a legitimate chance at doing anything at this point. They are an absolute mess in their own end and when their goaltending is average or worse, it just becomes a gong show out there. Would be nice if we could get some help there but likely not going to happen this year. And that's okay. Just a tease to have them play so well in the first half and then come back down to earth.

Ah well.
 
Well, that was disappointing. Had friends drop by, one of whom is a Habs fan. Could not chirp tonight, thankfully.

Freddy needs to hold the fort once they make that comeback and take the lead in the third. Yeah, the defense needs help and blah, blah. But any good team has a goalie that bails out its defense in situations like that. Freddy needs to up his game.
 
It's not Freddy. Should he steal one sometimes? Sure.

But the Leafs simply do not know how to play in their own end. It's a combination of youth and a subpar D.

And Rielly is a major problem back there.
 
Winning that game would not have been stealing the game. He had to shut the door once they took the lead. Instead, within 5 minutes of them taking the lead, he coughed up two more goals. Killed it.

No, it's not all the goalie's fault. Yes, there's other issues. But he needed to shut the door. That's why he's paid the big bucks.
 
Rielly made a horrible play that led to like a mad scramble in front of the net.

Then Kadri took a dumb penalty and we couldn't win a faceoff or cover anyone.

There's too much going wrong to just look to Andersen and say he should save more shots.
