GDT Game 1: VS Toronto, Wednesday, October 12, 7:00 PM EST

It sucks for Leafs fans.....

You have Reilly, Tavares, Matthews, Marner, Nylander......but never make it out of 1st round.....heck, you even had Kadri as a great 2nd center.....

I was unimpressed by Toronto all games. Many stretches where I felt we were the better team, which shouldn’t happen.
 
Leafs did not match the Habs energy. They "played down" tonight, that much was certain. Some of their guys were ok but most were sluggish.

They never have ever scared anyone, hence, playoff results…

Dumb-ass doesn’t believe in brute strength power forwards or top end goaltending… so what you see is what you get.

I expect to see a lot more of that by the opposition this season vs last year when every team was “up” to play the SC finalist

They have nice names, but poor roster construction and never drafting enough players to properly fill-in the cheap slots has done them in.

Their insistence to keep Nylander instead of trading him for a d-man is perplexing, but hey, their long track record of success proves me wrong all the time.

And signing Tavares was... shrug.
 
Based on off season moves I think the Leafs are not as good as they were last year.. I have doubts about their goaltending AGAIN . they lack grit and character, i wouldn't be surprised if Keefe is fired before the season is over..

The last two years, I thought Campbell was more than adequate. But this year, hedging your bets on two goalies that were unceremoniously let go by their respective teams and probably aren't starting caliber?

Oh no, the Leafs shouldn't be worried at all. Not one bit.

The Leafs have won the "basically the Stanley Cup" for the last half dozen seasons. But this is what you get when your team has absolutely no accountability. Their delusional fanbase does nothing but heap unconditional love on them and their sycophantic media follow suit because they know that if you want to sell papers or get clicks from these morons you have to tell them what they want to hear, not what they need to hear. The end result is a franchise that from top to bottom is unaccountable to anyone for anything. There are no negative consequences for losing and it feels no different than winning in terms of how their fans treat them. So they rack up easy regular season wins against unmotivated opponents and then can't get into a higher gear come playoff time.

They are merely the Blow Jays on skates. Any team that isn't or doesn't need to be afraid of pissing off its fans and watching them burn the city to the ground is susceptible to underachieving. As I've said many times before, Toronto sports fans are their own worst enemies. They ask for nothing and that's what they get.

Any other franchise would have sent Dubas and Keefe packing the day after they lost to the Habs in Game 7. But these clowns just shrug and move on to the next failure.
