GDT Game 1: VS Toronto, Wednesday, October 12, 7:00 PM EST

Agreed but if your only going to play Slaf 10 minutes send him down

No reason why he cant play on your second PP unit on a rebuilding team
I am not sweating it. He can stay up for nine. They can mentor him and give him goals to work towards when he is sent down. I think a taste of the nhl game is a good thing for him.

He needs to earn more TOI. I don't expect him to score a bunch on the 3rd line... but let's see some energy... let's see some smart plays.

He wasn't bad last night. He didn't do much either though. I give him a C+. He has 8 more games to show that he belongs on the 2nd line.

I agree but a bit more ice time wont hurt anything

Team isnt fighting for a playoff spot , play him in an offensive role for the 9

10 shifts a game isnt going to show anything that he belongs in the top 6

Give him the PP time you are giving slugs like Hoffman or Gally

If the plan is 9 games thats fine , see what he can do .

If they're going to have him here, even for only 9 games, they need to play him in a top 6 role and give him some looks on the powerplay. MSL needs to big picture this and stop trying to win games. The goal this season is to develop talent. Slaf doesn't need to learn how to play hockey. He already knows how to do that. What he needs to learn is how to be a top 6 forward on an NHL team and he's never going to learn that by playing 10-12 minutes on the bottom 6 with Rem Fucking Pitlick. Put him with Suzuki and Caufield or with Monahan even.

Exactly , he needs to get used to the pace of the league and play against better lines

He made some decent moves last night and had a scoring chance

I get it if the Habs are Winnipeg where every point matters on a bubble playoff team

He is built like a tank , how can he hurt you on a PP screening a goalie ?

He still has a lot to learn, he's all over the place on the ice. And he still needs to learn how to play on the PP, I doubt he had time to figure it out in training camp. Finally he was playing with Dvorak and Gallagher. I'm totally fine sheltering him, he just got to NA and it's his first game. No rush.

I agree. He is lost out there.. let him learn the NHL game from the 3rd line, build up his confidence and let him earn the promotion up to the 2nd line.. so far i am not excited about at all..

I thought Dach had a nice game.

Leafs looked sloooow. At one point, Gallagher blew by a bunch of them to create an opportunity on the rush....don't remember the last time I saw Gallagher look fast.

Button ripped the Leafs a new one and said they need a “reality check”

Pretty dull & dreary fall day here in CT, but after disposing of Make Beliefs last night all I see is…
