The Kotkaniemi mess up set us back. Put in Brady Tkachuk or Quinn Hughes and we're ahead.
 
It sucks to keep losing but the team will look a lot different in two years when Demidov, Hage and Reinbacher graduate and lots of cap space gets turned into a premium D-man and whatever other depth is required.

This shit takes time because even solid NHL prospects aren’t plug and play talents

Over the years only a handful of impact UFA players are ever available and they are not picking the Habs

Cole, Slaf , Nick ( not our pick but devoloped ), Guhle ......much better than before

Drafting and developing is our main hope sprinkled in with some shrewd moves

I dont want a panic move netting a PLD type only to fuck the cap and not move a needle

Take your swing at another Dach move thats fine , but fuck the patch jobs or overpaying

Yup. But I still think they need to make a trade for, or sign, a solid top 4 stabilizing defensemen. Something like Roman Hamrlik was for us, ideally better but that’s my bar.

It’s just unfortunate that HuGo raised the bar this year saying the goal was to be “in the mix” for the playoffs . . . not a top 3 pick.
