GDT | Game #13 | vs the Broad Street Bitches | Tuesday, November 4th 7:00 PM EST

Look at it this way. We saw Demidov last night and we saw Michkov. Which one of them was more noticeable? Which one of them was more impactful on the outcome of the game? Which one of them looked like a generational talent?

Spoiler alert: it wasn't Matvei fucking Michkov.

cant blame him on most goals tonight
“not his fault”

Yet he plays behind the same team as Dobes and lets in twice the goals.

“Not his fault” is an eye test. Stats say differently.

Can’t stand the guy as a goalie, I’m sure he’s a nice guy but get out of the crease already. Time to move on.

Needing 5 to win consistently with him in net is ridiculous.

The last line is the salient point. If the only way you have a chance to win a game with Monty in goal is to score a half a dozen times at the other end of the rink, you will lose much more than you will win. Did he look good AFTER the first period? Sure. Did the rest of the team also play like shit? Yes. They finished with 20 shots after 65 minutes against a dogshit opponent.

But still, 3 goals on 6 shots to start the game is unacceptable and it can't continue.

Give Dobes all the 4 pointer, divisional and conference games. Let Monty find his game against the Western teams.

Team played like shit in the first and didnt deserve a point , flyers controlled most of the game

2 ppg and 1 deflection , other games sure but not blaming this one on Monty

I'm not blaming the loss on Monty, but I'm not not blaming him for it, either. There was plenty of blame to go around, yes, but with Dobes in net we win that game 4-2 or 4-3 in regulation.

He needs his eyes checked, gives up a long goal per game
Riiiight?

We've all noticed this. I'm begging for someone in the media to ask whether or not Monty has seen an optometrist recently. Because whenever he has a bad game, it is inevitably a long shot from well out that should be a routine save that is his undoing.

I don't get how you have a hot goalie, 3rd star player of the month last month, and don't play him for 10 days. That's just dumb.

That being said yesterday wasn't on him. None of the goals were soft, Flyers dominated with 44 scoring chances, 20 high danger scoring chances, and an expected goals of above 5. Those are also stats.

Yes. Team played like shit, including Monty.

Dobes deals with the same tips and lets in less.

Don’t try to justify this as not his fault…

Career is a pretty good sample size. Guess that mediocrity is not his fault.

39% win percentage. Waiver wire fodder, exactly where we found him. People trying to force him into a starter are deluding themselves. He’s a mediocre backup all day long.

He struggles with puck tracking and deflections.

But our defensemen also need to stop deflecting pucks in our own net.
Yes. Defenseman deflections are why his numbers are so poor throughout his career…

Not because he’s a steaming pile of shit in the crease.

He’s not a good goalie, at all.

His career is on him. Don’t lose sight of the forest for the single tree last night.

I’m tired of the excuses and niceties, the Habs will be a stronger team once they stop trying to “ get Monty going”. He’s a sub 900 goalie that wins less than 40% of his starts. There is no getting him going.

Numbers don’t lie, businesses that ignore the numbers go out of business.

not yesterday , no chance its all on him
Who gives a fuck about yesterday you myopic twit (jk)? Monty should not be in the crease. I’m confident in saying that Dobes would have won that game.

I loathe watching Monty play. He’s only slightly better than Redlight Racicot.

This team will not take the next step with him playing 50% of the games.

Don't conflate things. I'm pretty sure the vast majority of us would also have started Dobes. Ride the hot goalie should be pretty common sense.

Just because we don't blame him for yesterday doesn't mean that we think we should ride Monty. He's an average goalie and he's having a terrible start of the season.

That's your takeaway? That I'm blaming defensemen deflections for Monty's numbers?
